Vintage Circus Wedding: Part 2 of 3
Awesome hair, funky make-up, and hilarious children to play with, what more could a girl ask for?! Which is why we paired up with some of the best Northern Colorado has to offer. Darby and Ray from Studio Be Salon teased and curled the hair into chicness, Keegan Steele from Steele the Spotlight worked her brushes to create some masterpieces, and some of our pint-sized friends came to add a bit of fun, all to create a vintage funky flair only a circus could provide!
A few words on the inspiration behind these works of art, straight from the horses, err stylist’s mouths:
Curled and teased to perfection:
“My inspiration for the shoot came from the book/movie ‘Water For Elephants’, particularly the headpieces on the elephants and horses in the circus shows. I actually wanted a funny out of ordinary look for the groomsman’s hair. My inspiration for his hair actually came from Charlie Chaplin. The groom’s hair is stylish enough for today but it also resembles the 40′s slicked back and clean cut style,” explained Darby. Ray Hornback did the bridesmaid’s hair; he was just nominated for new stylist of the year for a NAHA! “My inspiration came from the 40′s era, but putting a rougher texture within the shape of the styles,” he said.
In a flurry of brushes:
Keegan Steele of Steele the Spotlight was excited to work on the circus shoot from day one when lace.and.lilies told her of their hair brained idea over breakfast at Snooze. “I immediately jumped because I instantly thought…COLOR! I jump at any chance I get to work with fun colors because my rainbow palette doesn’t get used very often. It was really fun working with yellows, oranges and golds followed with glitter liners and extreme lashes for a very fun look! We also did a few shots at the end with a deep purple that was very dramatic and clown like… It was a blast to work with such a fun group of people as always!” And we were very thankful she came, because with her help the models turned out beautiful!!
These ADORABLE pint sized models were the life of the party! While they were only there for a little bit due to the exhausting heat that day, literally everything else stopped while they were photographed because everyone was watching and giggling with them! Little Maddy wants to be an actress when she grows up and had us in stitches as Mom told her “show me your surprised face, show me…your happy face, your scary face!” And she dropped them all on cue! And Jude, talk about one cool kid, he just hung out and hula hooped like it was no big thing, just another day at the office- which it kind of was since Mom is a photographer at Harper Point…
